Cold Nights Lie Ahead

By Patrick Kozub

Winter might be over, but cold nights lie ahead
a thousand miles between us in this bed
a silver lake of moonight, two distant drifting shoes
I can’t hear you callin’ anymore

Where’d it go? Where’d it go? Better days are coming dear, I know
Winter might be over, but cold nights lie ahead
A thousand miles between us in this bed

Heavy was the blizzard, it took us by surprise
We clung to superstition to get by
so long to the autumn, we heard the mountain roar
then huddled close to keep eachother warm

Where’d it go? Where’d it go? Better days are coming dear, I know
Winter might be over, but cold nights lie ahead
A thousand miles between us in this bed

Many nights I lay here, a singin’ to myself
cuz I know you’ve been off with someone else
memories unravel, and wear out in my mind
I’m losing grip, one thread at a time…

Where’d it go? Where’d it go? Better days will dawn for us, I know
Winter might be over, but cold nights lie ahead
A thousand miles between us in this bed
